In this sectionThe Problem
Often in the field of energy and environment, there are challenges in understanding who is doing what, and where, within the UN Refugee Agency (UNITAR). UNITAR staff and affiliates working on energy and environment work across numerous divisions and regions with little opportunity for information to be shared between offices. The communication flow and information exchange on current promising practices, lessons learned, and innovations is limited.
The Solution
In light of these challenges, UNITAR's Innovation Service and the Energy & Environment Unit are testing the viability to build and maintain an internal online community of practice of UNITAR staff working on topics that are directly or indirectly related to energy and environment, both at the field and headquarter levels.
The Sun will leverage the knowledge of UNITAR's workforce in the areas of energy and environment to create a more cohesive community of practice around the subject. The platform will allow for formal and informal knowledge exchange on resources, tools, new ideas, and good practices that are already occurring. The Sun is a work in progress and feedback is welcome as we continue to develop the platform based on the evolving needs and feedback of participating colleagues.
